T In The Park Highlights | Sunday [Edinburgh tropical-pop quartet Indigo Velvet pictured | T Break stage]
Indigo Velvet, T Break Stage, T In The Park, 10 July
T In The Park's organisers deserve to be congratulated - not only was the festival a smooth operation but they were so successful at reducing traffic congestion this year, that buses from Glasgow were Sold Out. As a result, and after a four hour journey via Edinburgh, we finally made it onsite on Sunday to see some of Scotland's most promising bands.First up, over on the T Break Stage, was colourful young Edinburgh quartet Indigo Velvet with their upbeat, sparkling, self described tropical-pop attracting a considerable crowd. Undoubtedly helped by a flurry of press coverage during the festival, [BBC Radio 1, Press Association, The Sun, Young Scot and more], they performed a flawless, summer-soaked set and were genuinely surprised by the amount of people that turned out to see them. Also on the T Break stage was the wonderful Colonel Mustard & the Dijon 5, who specialise in tongue-in-cheek social commentary, delivered via a lighthearted, fun and highly entertaining live show. Their set featured a cardboard ATM machine, mandatory audience line dancing and crowd-surfing on an inflatable dinghy - the Colonel and the #YellowMovement easily contenders for best live performance. Man Of Moon were on form over on the BBC Introducing Stage and in between we caught a few songs from some more established acts like; Maximo Park, Slaves and Faithless.Again, on the T Break Stage we saw; Foreignfox, Sweaty Palms [read preview in Scotland On Sunday], Declan Welsh and Tongues with another key highlight coming from The Lapelles [click to read Scotland On Sunday feature].Bringing the festival to a close [for us at least] was an epic set from the one and only - LCD Soundsystem [see short video clip below].Click below to see photo sets from T In The Park Sunday 10 July 2016:T In The Park 2016, Scotland On Sunday, The Van T's Scotland On Sunday, The Spook SchoolSpecial mention to bands we would've loved to have seen and worth checking out, Bloodlines [read preview in Scotland On Sunday], Frightened Rabbit, [see on BBC TV coverage], The Vegan Leather and JR Green.
