Nova Scotia The Truth (aka Shaheeda Sinckler) burst into the limelight last year when she won the Scottish Album of The Year Award, which she followed up with her six-track EP What Would Nova Do? in May. Citing influences including trap, afrobeat and alternative pop, the singer, rapper and DJ has picked up a range of media coverage from relaunched style magazine The Face to industry title Billboard and even Radio 4.
This week saw the release of music video for the song Put Your Hands Up, which was commissioned by the Royal Bank of Scotland (< click to play) and tackles the impact of the pandemic. Over the past few months Sinckler has been busy collaborating with a range of different artists and is working on a new album at Glasgow’s Power Control Studio, with rapper K1 and singer Alysha.
On 31 July she finally gets to perform live again at the Hang hip-hop/grime convention at SWG3. This will be followed by dates at Out East Festival (7 August), King Tuts (13 August), Vibration Festival (4 September) and Stag & Dagger in November. see http://novascotiathetruth.com/ | Facebook: @novascotiathetruth | Instagram: @novascotiathetruth | Twitter: @novascotiatruth | Spotify HERE
